Ecological & Social footprint
Hodi Hodi uses solar power for their office and outside lighting and rainwater is caught and used for their garden. They try to avoid as much waste and plastic as possible and work together with a privately owned waste management company. The guests enjoy natural cosmetic amenities which at the same time are biodegradable.
The kids from the village receive an incentive from Hodi Hodi when keeping the village clean. The staff comes all from the village of Matemwe and they receive regular additional training throughout the year such as English courses. Hodi Hodi gives out micro-loans to its staff members and suppliers and supports the village through the construction of a nursery school, organizes school donations in cooperation with guests and lets the staff manage and keep the profits from the in-house shop. Whenever possible everything is sourced from the village.
