5 days Permaculture Workshop in Zanzibar
USD 490.00
Permaculture is a philosophy of agriculture design principles which are derived from observing the ecosystem and integrating plants and animals in all their functions. Originally permaculture stood for “permanent agriculture” but nowadays it has been expanded to “permanent culture” including as well social aspects.
The approach can also expand to ecological building, appropriate technology, education and economics. Whereas industrial agricultural methods usually depend on non-renewable resources and practices which lead to deteriorated soil quality and a reduction of the biodiversity, permaculture techniques keep in mind the synergies between different species in order to bring maximum benefit to the environment. There are three basic ethics on which permaculture is built: earth care, people care and fair share. Earth care implies that all life systems should be respected for the functions they perform in order to guarantee organic growth leading to a sustaining life on Earth. People care fosters the need for companionship and joint efforts to bring out the best result for everyone involved. The Fair share principle stands for only taking what one needs and sharing with the community.
