Visual Arts Festival Zanzibar

Visual Arts Festival Zanzibar (VAFZanzibar) is an annual visual arts festival commencing October 2019. Revolving around the exhibitions of Zanzibari, African and international visual artists accompanied by the work of creative communities in Zanzibar.
The VAFZanzibar team consists of artists and arts management professionals who live in and are from Zanzibar and are excited by the creativity and possibilities of the Islands. All of them are engaged either in making art in Zanzibar or connecting artists within and without of Zanzibar. They are all facilitating connections with the aim of widening creative discourses, and see the festival as a step towards all the above.
For this event intheir first year, the theme is Hapa Hapa Now! meaning “here we are now”. Everything we are has been formed by our heritage, histories and herstories, but we are also the present (the NOW) of the future. They will be exhibiting work that reflects this reality.
