Komba Nest is a simple, basic hut in the middle of Zanzibar nature, close to the mangroves, run by a local community tourism initiative.
Komba Nest in Uzi Island
Komba Nest is a simple hut, built and operated by the Muungoni Community Tourism Initiative, a group of locals from the village of Muungoni in Southern Zanzibar. It is of simple, basic standard.
The strong point of these accommodations is the location that you will enjoy if you are a true nature lover: At Komba Nest you will feel like staying in the middle of a tropical rain forest (but the village of Muungoni is only a few hundred meters away, and members of the local tourism initiative can be called using a walkie-talkie).
The hut can accommodate up to four people. The hut only has basic solar lighting and pit latrines outside the hut.
The accomodation is built using only local natural construction materials that completely blend with and in tune with its natural surroundings.
Please book this accommodation if you enjoy staying away from the main tourism spots of Zanzibar and if you enjoy blending with local people who are not trained hospitality professionals or familiar with international hotel service standards, but warm-hearted villagers.
Don’t book this accommodation if you expect professionally managed and run hotel services, nighttime entertainment (other than the sounds of nature), a wide range of culinary services, alcoholic beverages, or mingling with other foreign tourists. It is most likely that you are the only tourists staying at the hut – finding yourself in the middle of a rural African setting.
