Join us at Mother Nature Conservation Camp in Matemwe for an immersive 3-day experience focused on marine and coastal conservation, community engagement, and cultural exchange. Stay at beautiful Matemwe Beach, one of Zanzibar’s best beaches, while actively contributing to meaningful environmental initiatives.
Day 1 – Arrival & Cultural Connection
Your experience begins with arrival at the Mother Nature Conservation Camp (self-organized transfer or pre-booked transfer available at an additional cost). Upon arrival, you will be welcomed with a refreshing drink and an introduction to the camp, its mission, and the activities ahead.
In the late afternoon at 4:00 pm, you will take part in an evening cooking class, either in the local village or at the camp, where you will learn to prepare traditional dishes using local ingredients. Afterwards, you will enjoy a shared dinner featuring local cuisine. The night is spent in a comfortable four-person shared dorm safari tent, surrounded by the sounds of nature.
Day 2 – Marine Conservation in Action
After breakfast, you will join our volunteers for a morning eco-snorkeling session. During this hands-on activity, you will participate in biodiversity monitoring and coral health data collection, gaining direct insight into practical marine conservation work.
Following lunch at the camp, you will take part in data entry and receive an introduction to marine research methods, learning how field observations are analyzed and contribute to long-term conservation strategies.
In the evening, a marine biologist will host an “Ocean Talk” on a selected conservation topic, offering deeper understanding of the challenges and solutions in protecting marine ecosystems. Dinner is served at the camp, followed by another overnight stay at Mother Nature Conservation Camp.
Day 3 – Community & Sustainable Livelihoods
On your final day, you will join a Cultural Seaweed Tour. You will visit a local women’s seaweed cooperative and learn how sustainable ocean-based livelihoods support both community development and marine conservation.
After lunch at the camp, the program concludes with departure (self-organized transfer or pre-booked transfer available at an additional cost).
This short eco-immersion is perfect for travelers who want to combine responsible tourism, hands-on conservation experience, and authentic cultural exchange in Zanzibar.
