Dada – Delicacies Cooking Class

Dada stands for a Zanzibari network of local cooperatives who run and manage their own businesses. The women of the Mama Matemwe cooperative created a multitude of tasty delicacies such as tea, snacks, sweets, jams, chutneys, mustards, sauces, muesli, bread and flour.

Cooking Class

Create your own products during a guided cooking class with the women of Mama Matemwe, interact with locals and learn more about the Zanzibari cooking culture! Learn how to fetch water from a bucket, how to cook on wood fires, how to grind grains, seeds and spices and how to quick-dry ingredients on palm-woven mats. You can learn how to cook a traditional sauce based on tomato, cassava leaves and grated coconut or you can learn how to turn baobab seeds into a delicious jam. Additionally, you will learn how to make date balls or banana chips which are all yours to keep.
