Jenga

Jenga offers a wide range of products from social enterprises, local entrepreneurs and artisans from mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar. Their carefully selected collection includes a broad variety of brands which offer soaps, woven coconut mats (Ukili), bags, dhow furniture, jams, jewelry, clothes, glass accessories, pillow cases and many more.

Jenga serves as a selling platform for talented artisans who often live in rural areas and have little knowledge about how to sell their products to the tourist market. Find out more about the brands behind the items by asking the lovely shopkeepers or reading through the personalized information sheets spread throughout the shops.

Jenga itself acts as a business adviser and supports the brands with their marketing and financial management skills leading to financial independence of each entrepreneur. Volunteers from abroad support the network through new design ideas and provide the link between the local enterprises and foreign buying patterns and taste.

Moreover, Jenga gives out micro-loans to members and invests 20% of the profits directly in needed resources such as sewing machines, raw material or roofs. They also coordinate a weekly market in Paje where many brands participate and offer their products.
