Eco & Outdoor Activities Place Description
Tanzip Zipline Adventures offers you the unique opportunity to fly across the African sky while taking in the stunning views of the surrounding lakes, the Maasai steppe and the Rift Valley.
The zipline is connected to six platforms which are built around ancient baobab trees. You can enjoy a refreshing drink at the end of your ride at the legendary tree house bar. The majority of the staff are locals from the area and have been trained by international industry leaders in safety regulations, first aid, height safety training, local ecology and culture and customer service.
Location
The zipline is located on the Northern safari circuit of Tanzania, just outside the village of Mto wa Mbu, and can be easily added to your safari itinerary or booked as a day trip from Arusha or Karatu. The treetop course includes over 1 km of zipline, four separate ziplines, and a suspension bridge.
Ecological & Social Footprint
Since Tanzip Zipline Adventures intends to keep their footprint as light as possible, the course has been integrated into the forest, and guests don’t access the forest grounds. Branch pruning is done according to established forestry practices while the cable is attached specifically to avoid any direct contact with the bark or trunk of the trees. The location was chosen in order to fulfill the wish of the nearby Maasai; as they wish to create additional employment opportunities for their community. Furthermore, Tanzip funded the construction of a local school in the community.

Tanzip Zipline Tour
Experience the thrill of flying through the African sky! Zip between majestic baobab trees while taking in the stunning scenery of Tanzania. The zipline course has five exciting zips, and six unique eco-platforms. The tour starts at the Tanzip office in Mto wa Mbu where you will have safety orientation and be fitted with your harness. An open-air ride in the Tanzip Truck will take you through maasailand to the Tanzip Zipline Adventure park. After you zip, you can relax with a cold beverage in the viewpoint bar. Your tour will be completed after you are delivered back at the Tanzip office.
Hike at Lake Miwaleni (with optional waterfall trek)
A beautiful hike from Tanzip to the picturesque Lake Miwaleni. Hike around the lake learning about the wetlands and the area. This hike is not difficult but the terrain is uneven. The waterfall trek is gorgeous, but a little more challenging.
Maasai Boma Culture Tour
Visit an authentic boma and learn about the life of the Maasai tribe of Tanzania. See how they raise their livestock, cook, bead, sing and dance, and learn about their traditions and culture; all while supporting the local village.
Mto wa Mbu Village Tour
Walk along the streets of Mto wa Mbu, a bustling Tanzanian village. Visit local artisans, learn about making banana beer, visit farms and plantations, and enjoy a traditional Tanzanian lunch.
Bike to Lake Manyara Shoreline
An easy bike ride from Mto wa Mbu village to the shores of Lake Manyara. You are likely to spot amazing wildlife such as monkeys, zebras, wildebeest, and more!
Hike to the Rift Valley Plateau
Take half a day to hike from Mto wa Mbu village up the wall of the great rift valley to the plateau above. You will pass through town, banana plantations, natural forest, baobab trees, and a semi-arid landscape. The panaromic view at the top is worth the climb! This hike has a large elevation gain and is moderately physically challenging.
